Al-Qabbaj inaugurates the activities of the first annual conference on “The Feasibility of Social Investment in Persons with Disabilities”

The conference witnessed the presence of Abdel Hadi Al-Qasabi, Chairman of the Social Solidarity, Family, and Persons with Disabilities Committee in the House of Representatives, Talaat Abdel-Qawi, Member of the House of Representatives and President of the General Union of Civil Associations, and some members of the House of Representatives, Bishop Jeremiah, General Bishop and Head of the Coptic Orthodox Cultural Center, and Dr. Ashraf Marei, General Supervisor. The National Council for the Affairs of Persons with Special Abilities and the civil entities and associations concerned with persons with disabilities. Nevin Al-Kabbaj, Minister of Social Solidarity, opened the conference with her speech in which she indicated that social investment is an approach adopted by the state and political leadership to enhance the productivity and well-being of individuals in society and improve their quality of life in a way that achieves widespread benefit, recalling that social investment is one of the basic pillars that demonstrate the commitment of all state institutions. The commitment of all citizens, regardless of their groups and differences, towards serving our society in all aspects of life, within the framework of our tireless pursuit of achieving just, comprehensive and sustainable development. In a related context, Dr. Nevin Al-Kabbaj, Minister of Social Solidarity, stressed during the round table of the “Initiators’ Conference,” which was held under the slogan “A New Era for People with Disabilities in Egypt,” the necessity of starting a movement that builds on the capabilities of people with disabilities, not their disabilities, and the use of modern technology applications and transformation. Digital technology to facilitate accessibility and achieve societal integration for people with disabilities in order to improve the lives of people with disabilities and their caregivers. Al-Qabbaj pointed out that Egypt has recently sought to create a suitable space and climate for the concerted efforts of all segments of society, including academic, legislative institutions, and others, to support people of determination and special abilities, on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, which falls on December 3 of each year, and is a global day designated by Before the United Nations since 1992 to support people with disabilities, it aims to increase understanding of their issues. The Minister of Solidarity explained that investing in people with disabilities results in many positive and good developmental and social returns and impacts, that is, the development of society in general, and also achieves community profit margins and qualifies society towards sustainable, inclusive development by reaching the largest possible number of the target group, stressing that The Ministry has taken social investment in persons with disabilities as a pillar, starting point, and general framework through which it operates and takes it into account when providing its services stipulated in Law No. 10 of 2018 and its executive regulations.
